I love experimenting with Henna. My hair Color is light brown but I love shades of Red and Blond. Here’s the recipe I use for Deep Red Shade.
100 gm Henna Powder
250ml Red Wine
3 Tbsp Powdered Cloves
1 Tbsp Paprika

Mix all the ingredients together to make a paste. (Neither too thick nor too watery)
Apply on your hair, leave on for about 5-6 hours or overnight (if you are comfortable) and rinse off.
If you want Bright Red Shade try this Henna Mix-
100 gm Henna Powder
200ml Red Wine
8 Tbsp Paprika
½ Cup Pomegranate Juice

If you want Light Blonde Shade try this Henna Mix-
100 gm Henna Powder
2 Cups Lemon Juice
1 Cup Chamomile Tea
If you want Golden Blonde Shade try this Henna Mix-
100 gm Henna Powder
3 Cups Chamomile Tea
1 Tbsp Turmeric Powder

If you want Brown Shade try this Henna Mix-
100 gm Henna Powder
3 Tbsp Walnut Powder
250 ml Coffee

Henna is a very safe alternative to coloring hair with commercial hair dyes. It not only colors but also conditions well. If you have dry hair you can add Olive Oil, Rosemary Oil, Egg Yolk or 2 Tbsp Yogurt.
But NEVER use Henna on Chemically Treated Hair. Wait for at least one month before applying Henna if you have permed, dyed, straightened or bleached your hair.
Don’t have time for making your own Henna Blend? Try Mountain Rose Herb’s ready to use Henna blends that come in shades like Red, Black, Sherry, Mahogany, Burgundy, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Light Brown, Copper, Marigold Blonde, Neutral and Strawberry. Don’t worry, there’s no chemical used in their blend, its all Organic. Mountain Rose Herbs Henna is colored using one or more of the following botanical methods and are mixed with the Henna Powder.
Henna leaf
Henna Bark
Indigo leaf and stalk
Calendula petals
Chamomile flowers
Hibiscus flowers
Alkanet root

I’ve been looking to use henna for my hair. What if you wanted to use the clear henna to strengthen, how would you do it? How do you highlight your hair with henna?

Hi Leanne,
If you wanna use henna just for strengthening, u can use Cassia(clear henna), 2 egg yolks, 1/2 cup curd and 3 tbsp Olive Oil.

I thought you had to boil the paste before using it? that’s what it says on the henna package.
But that’s of course if you mix it with water.
I wanna try “the deep red shade”.
I just want to be sure

Hello! I was just wondering if you used different colors of henna for each of these dyes? I would like to try the Bright Red Shade but I’m not sure if I should buy red henna for it or maybe clear? I’m not sure. If you could let me know what you used I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Clara,
Thats not my photos but you can use normal henna mixed with red wine, paprika and pomegranate juice to get bright red shade.

SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE!
I have been currently been using Redkin Shades for the past few years. I mix a level 4 Maple with a level 4 Sun Tea. The result is a very rich Dark Brown. I really want to start using henna but i have received so many mixed messages regarding applying henna over color treated hair.
I purchased some Rainbow Henna in Persian Dark Brown.
Will this work over the color I have now?
I am scared that it will make my hair brittle and cause breakage to my chemically treated hair!
If anyone could give me some advise, or courage to take the plunge. I truly want to stop using chemicals in my life.
Thank you so much. Misha

Hi Misha,
You can wait for 2 months after you have colored your hair. 2 months should be a decent gap, you can use any shade of henna after 2 months.
