Calendula Oil/Marigold Oil is a wonderful oil for skin health. Herbal oils are made by infusing herbs with some carrier oil. It is very easy to make herbal oils and once you learn the basic you can experiment with different herbs and oils.
Benefits of Calendula Oil
Due to its anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, Calendula oil helps heal scars, wounds, soothes scalp, repairs sun damaged skin and makes a great moisturizer.
How to make Calendula Oil ?
You will need the following items to make Calendula Oil.
1 /2 Cup Dried Calendula Petals
2 Cups Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Medium sized Glass Jar with lid.
Muslin Cloth
Steps
Note: Make sure all the utensils are dry because even the smallest amount of moisture can spoil the oil.
In a clean glass jar place dried Calendula petals(you can pick fresh flowers from the garden and let it dry, if it is not dried properly it may spoil the oil)
Pour Olive oil over these petals.
Keep stirring until the petals are covered with oil.
Cover the jar with muslin cloth instead of a lid.
After a few hours you can remove the muslin cloth and cover it with the lid.
Place the jar near the sunny window for about 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks, strain the oil using a muslin cloth and store in a cool, dry and dark place.
You can use this oil as a massage oil for hair and body, you can also make herbal salves, creams and lotions using this oil.
